WE ARE ALL ARTISTS!
Thank you for taking the time to read and familiarize yourselves with my routines and expectations! I know we will have a wonderful, fun and successful school year in Art class!
The developmental benefits of art include:
*growth of fine motor skills
*language development
*strengthens problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
*visual learning/developing visual-spatial skills
*encourages inventiveness
*Teaches cultural awareness
*improved academic performance
ART EDUCATION:
- Students will develop their creative side!
- Students will develop their thinking and visualizing skills
- All children will work independently and express themselves imaginatively
- Art activities help demonstrate increased student performance in other academic areas
- To achieve success, there are different expectations for task completion for students based upon their individual needs
ART GRADES:
* For a grade of Satisfactory or higher, students will-- Follow directions for assignment
- Fully participate in activities and assignment
- Apply his or her best efforts
- Behave appropriately
- Hand in assignments on time by specified deadline
- If absent, make up missed work in allotted classtime or at home and return by the following class
*Kindergarten will receive 2 participation grades along with their skill assessments (Art projects)
*First – Eighth grade will receive 2-3 skill assessments and 2 participation assessments (which includes behavior)
*Please refer to the Art Rubric, which is also posted on my blog, for a more detailed description of the assessment criteria.*
ART PROJECTS:- Students will always be prepared, responsible and be accountable for their own projects each class
- Will ALWAYS have a specific objective aimed at broadening the children’s skills and talents AND of his/her knowledge of that particular subject
- Will include art production, art history, art criticism/analysis and aesthetic awareness
