I hope everyone had a nice weekend, in spite of the dreary weather! We had a great week last week in 3A. The students did an excellent job on their final MAP tests for the year and we really enjoyed the Middle School Musical and our school May Crowning on Friday.
This week in Language Arts, we will be working on Module 9, Week 1. Module 9's theme is "From Farm to Table." In short, it is all about food! Another popular topic amongst 3rd graders! We will read the story "How Did That Get in My Lunchbox" this week. This is an interesting story dealing with how food gets from where it is grown to our tables! Our grammar skill will be using commas in series, in addresses, and in other ways. Students received this week's spelling and Critical Vocab words this past Friday. We will have a spelling test on Thursday and a reading test on Friday.
In math, we will continue to work with measurement. We will review measuring in inches to the quarter-inch, using milliliters and liters, and then begin working with mass using grams and kilograms. We will also touch on some other measurement topics- centimeters and meters and ounces and pounds.
We will continue to work with our forces and motion unit in science this week. We will talk a little more about gravity, magnetism and friction, and then begin to learn about simple machines and how they are so important in our everyday lives! We will also be spending some time preparing for our STREAM fair. The children have worked hard on many STREAM and PBL projects this year, and we just need to do a few "finishing touches" before we are ready to display their hard work!
In religion, we will begin our Family Life curriculum. We will learn that God created families and that all families are different and special. We will learn that in our families, we share our gifts with others and we also receive from them. We will learn that being a member of a family involves responsibility.
A few reminders...
Looking forward to a great week! God bless!
