Thank you to Akachi who took Polly home this past weekend. Did you know they went to McDonalds and a carnival in Woodbridge Mall? What fun!!
This week we made applesauce. Most of us tasted it. It was delicious!!! Thank you to all the parents who sent apples in.
Homework begins the week of October 4. Normally it will be Monday and Wednesday. It will always be a reinforcement of what we learn in school. Please sit with your child in a quiet space at home. It should not take your child longer than 15 minutes to do one page. Make it a happy experience for your child. Your child will show you how to write a letter, number etc. Please do not do their homework for them. Be consistent with your child when homework is done. For example: everyday right after dinner, as soon as you come home from school etc. Pick a time that works for your child and family. We follow a routine at school and the children look forward to it each day. Being consistent will foster good homework habits! If you have any concerns please let me know. Of course I understand if you have a birthday party, visit with Grandma etc. and can not get to homework. Just do it the next day and return it to school.
This week we learned about how God wants us to include everyone and not leave anyone out. He also wants us to share. We learned about who St. Francis and how he loved animals. His Feast Day is Tuesday, October 4. We will have a pet blessing this day.
We learned about the shape triangle and how it has three sides and three corners. We looked at things around the classroom that were shaped like a triangle. We drew triangles as well as squares and circles with chalk and used our dry erase boards to make shapes.
We have been working hard on our names. Please help your child form the letters of their name correctly by reinforcing this at home. We teach the children to start making all letter at the top not the bottom.
We learned about the colors, black, white, brown and gray this week. We had color day today and showed off the colors we were wearing!
Please make sure you empty your child's folder each day. It makes it harder for the children to put new papers in if old papers are left in.
A Halloween letter went home today to explain the day. If there are any questions please feel free to contact me.
Have a great long weekend,
Mrs. McNulty
