Pre-K4B wrapped up our Community Helper Month with a visit from Doctor Mammano. She is a Physical Therapist, and explained to us about our bones and how to have healthy bodies. She brought us in skeleton figures for us to learn about our bones too. We also had an amazing visit from two police officers. They explained what the police do to keep us safe and the tools they use. We even got to go through a police car, and received badges. Thank you so much to everyone, we had a blast! We learned about construction helpers this week too! We read about all the different jobs on a constructions site, and explored with construction vehicles on the play space. We also discussed and drew a picture of what we want to be when we grow up!
Our letter of the week was “P.” We read books all about pumpkins, and created our own orange paper plate pumpkin by using our fine motor skills to stick tiny pieces of paper in the shape of a “P” onto it. We also traced it on our SmartBoard, and played a letter matching game. Everyone shared one word that starts with the letter too during Morning Meeting.
We discovered new things about nocturnal animals. We learned that an owl eats at night, and played a rhyming owl game. The owl would say a word and then we would find its rhyming match. We also labeled the parts of an owl.
We learned all about the number three. We searched for three items in our classroom that were the same color, and we traced the number three as well. We also matched the three pumpkins to the number on our worksheet.
We celebrated Halloween all week by singing Halloween songs, our favorite was “Five Little Pumpkins on a Gate.” We visited our very own school pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins. We had a blast painting them. We picked our own colors and painted the pumpkin with a toothbrush. We created scary spider webs with white crayons and made spooky fingerprint ghosts. Bishop Checchio kicked off trick or treating by visiting our classroom, and giving us a special treat!
Pre-K4B also welcomed our new classroom goldfish, naming and pictures to come!
*A friendly reminder Picture Forms are due back Monday, November 1st for Picture Day on Wednesday, November 3rd!*
Everyone have a wonderful and fun Halloween!
