Pre-K began learning all about letters. We explored the letters “L” and “F.” We used centers to write our letters in sand and build them with our blocks. We also made them out of our colorful playdough, and did a matching sound game on our SmartBoard. During Morning Meeting, everyone shared different words with the sounds of the letters, and we read books about our letters too. We all enjoyed the Flamingo one.
Pre-K also used pom poms as paintbrushes to create a lamb that we read about in our Lulu lamb book. They did a great job holding the clothespins with the pom poms and tapping them on the paper!
We also began our numbers. We counted to five and sung our new tracing letter songs. We began with zero and dotted a zero. We also created a zero from pom poms and out of our curved blocks.
Pre-K also looked at the community where we live and go to school. We named helpers in our community, and shared what we want to be when we grow up. We shared what we see when we are at our homes, and who is our community at school.
We finished learning about our shapes! We traced a rectangle, and made it out of pipe cleaners. We also worked on our pencil grip as we traced it. We ended with creating a house out of all of our shapes we learned.
We celebrated the Feast of Saint Francis by listening to how Saint Franics helped a wolf, and recited the “Prayer of Saint Francis.” We glued tissue paper to create a Saint Francis stained glass window as well. Father Jay came over and blessed our animal photos, and shared some facts about Saint Francis.
Jake brought home Francis over the weekend. He loved playing with his sister, and going to Jake’s soccer game. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Francis!
Our “Student of the Week” is Kay! Her favorite color is orange and she loves french fries! Congratulations Kay!
