Thank you to Rocco for bringing home Tilly the turtle. Did you know he went to Turtle Back Zoo and Peddler's Village. What a fun weekend! Logan was our Student of the Week. He likes to play baseball and sings in the SF choir! That is great!
We have learned Lovely Lady (a poem about Mary) and the children say it beautifully. Dr. Locquiao came in on Wednesday and heard the children recite it. We are working on the prayer the Our Father. Our Father Our Father who Art in Heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen We have been talking about St. Francis and made sun catchers to hang in our window. The children did an awesome job!
This week we learned about the letter Ii. We will concentrate on the short vowel sound but we do talk about the long vowel sound as well. We traced the letter Ii, wrote on white boards, read a story about an Iguana, looked at many pictures that begin with Ii and made an Iguana art project too! We review all letters, sounds, numbers, shapes and colors each day during Circle Time. Please review what we learn in school.
We learned the number 3 and talked about rectangles. We wrote on our white boards and made the number 3 out of pompoms along with dotting number 3's. We looked around the room for rectangles and found many in our classroom. We read a story Rudy the Rectangle and sang a song.
We had Officer Dan (Emily's uncle) from the Metuchen Police Department come in to speak to us about his occupation. He showed the children all the items he wears daily to work. He talked about Halloween safety and asked each child what they were wearing for Halloween. He also told the children to have an adult inspect each piece of candy they receive before eating. Officer Dan let each child climb in the backseat of his Police car and he turned the lights and siren on. He showed them the bicycle he rides around town. Mrs. McGee/ Mrs. Fam's Pre-k 3 class joined us. We each made a card for him. What a great presentation...thanks Officer Dan! We do go out each day early (weather permitting -no rain and 32 degrees or above) so please make sure your child has a warm coat and hat/gloves if they want them. No scarves please. We will be starting Show n' tell soon. Watch for Show n' tell letter that will be sent home. Homework is looking great. Please have your child do their homework in pencil and color the pictures if any. Please send in your $6.00 for Halloween if you have not already done so. Cash only please. A letter from the school nurse is coming home today about when to keep your child home if they are sick. I just wanted to add if your child is very congested and sneezing please give them a day or two to rest at home and not spread germs to the class. Thanking you in advance for keeping our classroom safe. God bless, Mrs. McNulty
