Pre-K4 learned all about the Thanksgiving Day Parade this week. We read “Balloons Over Broadway” and watched on our SmartBoard how the balloons are designed and made. We sketched out our own balloon designs and made them out of playdough too. We then used tin foil to draw our designs with markers and laminated them. We blew them up and had our own parade around our school building.
Also, for Thanksgiving we created our own placemats to have at dinner, and a cross centerpiece with leaves. We also made corn using yellow paint and our legos as stamps!
We explored the letter “J.” We learned all about jellyfish and created the letter in jelly beans. We also worked on beginning to listen to the first sounds in CVC words. We worked on identifying the sound on our SmartBoard. We also moved our bodies to ABC yoga.
Our number this week was seven. We used our legos to count out seven of them and built our seven using pipe cleaners. We reviewed directions as well with a game of Simon Says to see if everyone knew what direction to move in.
We all began to learn a Thanksgiving prayer, and all shared what we are grateful for. We also all recited our “Hail Mary” prayer so well! We had a special visit to the school’s chapel in our building too. We saw the stained glass windows and the altar.
Pumpkin Jack finally decomposed! We all observed our pumpkin one last time, and drew what it finally looked like in his jar.
Smart Cookie visited Alexander. They set up for Christmas, and Smart Cookie loved the Christmas PJs!
