Thank you to Skyler for being our Student of the Week. Did you know she wants to be a pilot when she grows up!
Thank you to Catalina for taking Tilly the Turtle home this past weekend. She had a big birthday celebration with Tilly and rode her around on her new bike.
This week we started to learn about the Saints and how important they are to us. We learned that it was All Saints Day today. This week we also learned the Pumpkin Prayer: Dear God.. Let your light shine in me so others can see. We carved a pumpkin as Mrs. McNulty said the full Pumpkin Prayer that was sent home on Wednesday. We also learned how special Saints are and look forward to learning many more Saints this month. For occupations to close this month we had Miss Michelle (Mrs. Sayer's daughter) who owns a dance studio in Edison. She showed us how to act out different faces for Halloween since she has a theater class in her school. We learned about the letter Hh, the sound it makes and how to write it. We picked out words that begin with Hh and concrete objects. We also learned the number 5 and practiced simple patterns with colors. We had our first Show n' tell for the letter Hh. It went very well. Next week will be the letter Nn. We read our Let's Find Out pumpkin issue Grow, Grow, Grow your boat! Pumpkin boat that is. Mrs. McNulty cut open a small pumpkin and we watched it float in a big bowl just like the pumpkin boats. We also read the Let's Find Out Election Day is coming. We had an election in our own classroom. We voted on the type of turkey flag to put up in our classroom for the month of November! I have started to test the children on various letters, numbers, shapes, colors concepts we have learned since the beginning of the year. Progress reports will go out November 13. Our Halloween party was great!! We did so many Halloween things. We took a nice picture with our friends outside! What a FUN day for all the children!!! On Halloween we made a mummy out a stuffed animal where the children all wrapped up the animal with toilet paper! We did some Brain Breaks for Halloween and also danced to Halloween music. We painted 5 pumpkins for the number 5 and also dotted a pumpkin with dotters. We used the big playground at the big school to roll balls to each other to improve motor skills and hand-eye coordination this week. We Thank you to Rocco and his family for sending in Bluey sensory bins for each child. They will have so much fun using these! God Bless, Mrs. McNulty
