Our chicks returned to Quiver Farms on Friday. The Kindergarten classes helped to name our chicks: Daisy, Tiny-Fluff, Peanut, Chick-fil-A, Sesame, Biscuit, Lola, Brownie, Cotton Candy, Tom, Cutie Pie, and Spot. The #10 egg hatched first, followed by egg #8 a little over an hour later. The boys and girls LOVED being able to hold the chicks and looked forward to seeing them each day. I was able to get a picture of each of the kids with a chick which I will send home on Monday. Over the next few weeks, we will be working on creating a model of a chicken coop. This is always a fun project for the class!
Please see below for some pictures from the chick visit!

We have been having a fun time observing the eggs this past week. We can't wait for the eggs to hatch! We hope the hatching will start Monday while we're in school. We will keep and eye on the hatch through Wednesday. The students made their predictions on which egg they think will hatch first. Once all our chicks have hatched we will have a chance to hold and pet them. The chicks will head back to Quiver Farms at the end of the week.
Have a great week!

We are pausing our lesson "Me on the Map." This week we are SO EXCITED that Quiver Farms will be dropping off 12 eggs for Kindergarten to observe as we learn all about how chicks hatch! We will spend a week with the eggs in the incubator and then will see the chicks hatch between Monday and Tuesday. This is my favorite activity during the year and I know the class is looking forward to as well!
We had fun last week celebrating Read Across America Day. We always look forward to having our buddies stop by. We also had a special guest reader, Mr. Huff- one of our 4th grade teachers, who read us a story at the end of the day. Please see below for some pictures.
Have a great week!
