Happy New Year! Pre-K started off the New Year by learning all about our new month. We read all about the holidays celebrated in January and that it is the first month of the year. We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break, and thank you for all the generous presents.
The Letter of the Week was “K.” We created the letter out of playdough, and wrote it in our journals. We also created a “K” king with a crown. We also did a letter review on our SmartBoard. We found letters by their sounds in a freeze game, and identified them on our polar bears. We also began learning our last names. We named the letters in them, and traced them.
Our Number of the Week was 9. We traced the letter 9 and wrote our own pictures to represent 9. We also began to learn about patterns. We learned there are many different patterns and finished the patterns on our SmartBoard using colors, shapes, and letters.
We celebrated “Three Kings Day” by reading about the three kings that visited baby Jesus. We colored a picture of them, and made our own crowns to celebrate. We began to learn the “Our Father” prayer. We used our colorful dotters on our cross, and made our own snowflakes by following directions on our SmartBoard.
We practiced our fine motor skills by working with scissors. We worked on our grip and cut paper. We also worked on our fine motor skills with our puzzles and Kinect blocks.
Pre-K this month will be learning about artic animals. We learned about the tundra, and where the animals live. We had a blast making a snowflake out of different shapes too. We created our own penguins in a mitten shape, and did a great job coloring them.
Please note that on Monday, January 9th, there will be letter in your child’s folder in regards to Parent Teacher Conference Times and a supply list.
Thank you and God Bless,
Miss Kline & Mrs. A
