This week we learned about the church. How we honor God at church, we learned about things that are in the church, Mass clothes (colors the priest wears, altar servers, choir etc.). We learned about how we sing in church, what the priest says and how to listen to God's story. We also learned that Pope Francis is the head of the Catholic church. We have been praying for his health this week in front of his picture. On Wednesday we went to the church to pray for him. We learned the word adoration and went to pray in front of Jesus.
We made Lent crosses on Tuesday and hung them up. Mrs. McNulty painted our feet this week for a new bulletin board we will put up about Lent. We learned a new Lent prayer: Lent Prayer Dear Lord, We know Lent is a time to do loving things. Please help us to follow in your footsteps during this season of Lent. Amen
We reviewed our numbers from 1-15 and how to write them. We learned about missing numbers. We practiced writing numbers correctly on our white boards and doing cut and paste papers. We also practiced our cutting skills. We used number puzzles to count to 15 and played number Bingo.
We learned about the letter Ee with our white boards, completing papers, singing songs, watching Ee videos, tracing Ee's and also practiced lower case e's with a cute rhyme. Hit the ball and run around the bases. We also made an E project by painting and putting together an Elmo.
We learned about the gymnast Simone Biles and all the metals she received. Some of us even went on the balance beam on the playground to practice our landing like Simone did.
We celebrated Read Across America day today. It was so much fun reading with our 5th grade buddies and visiting with them. We played a Cat in the Hat game with numbers. Our buddies helped us play the game. We made a one fish, two fish, red fish blue fish craft. We practiced our patterns by creating a Dr. Seuss snack. We stacked a banana then strawberry, banana, strawberry etc. It looked like a "Cat in the Hat" hat. It was delicious!! Everyone has taken the Winter class book home. We hope you enjoyed reading it. Until our next class book... The disguise a leprechauns are starting to come back and look awesome!!! Thanks for all your help. Also, we set up our Leprechaun Land and trap to try to catch a leprechaun. Thank you to the parents who already sent in green leprechaun/St. Patrick's day items. If you would still like to donate a prize from the leprechaun please hand it to the aide in the morning at the door. We are also in need of green snacks if you rather donate that. Some food needed is: green Jello, St. Patrick's cookies or cupcakes, green grapes. etc. It is a surprise so please do not tell your child. Starting next week the third homework will be working on the Lenten Star Chart that will go home on Wednesday. This will be the third hw until the Easter break.
God Bless, Mrs. McNulty
