Pre-K 4B kicked off our week with making gingerbread houses out of graham crackers. We also made rice krispy treats that were shaped liked trees. We decorated them so well. We explored our bakery center, and learned about reading a recipe. Also, we reviewed how to follow the steps when cooking!
Our letter of the week was “J.” We read a book about a jackrabbit jumping, and created a J craft for baby Jesus in a manger. We also used our hands to learn a “J” in sign language. We made a “J” out of blocks and worked on writing our names. We even create our names to make a triangle tree.
Our number was “8” and we put it into our fish ten frame. We made it out of playdough, and learned a song about writing the number “8.” We “make an S and climb back up.
Pre-K read the story about the nativity and explored our manger. We also used tissue paper to create a stained glass background for our manger scene. We colored an early reader book to share the story with our families as well.
Also, we spoke about traditions we all have during the holiday season. We made ornaments from the pictures we shared and hung them on our classroom tree.
We read “Ten Little Penguins” and painted cups to design our own penguins. We also read what penguins eat and how there are different types of penguins. We created reindeer food out of oats and glitter so the reindeers know where to land.
Our 5th grade buddies visited us in our classroom. They were a fantastic audience for our concert practice, and we colored gingerbread cards for them.
Thank you Allyson and her family for taking such good care of Francis. She met Santa, and went to a ballet class.
