“LET US SING A NEW SONG NOT WITH OUR LIPS, BUT WITH OUR LIVES” ~ST. AUGUSTINE
Be Prepared: Students grades 3-8 should have a Music notebook. Grades 1-8 should have a folder to keep all papers and to transport homework/take home quizzes or tests. Please use a pencil for all things in this class. These items should always be with you for class.
Complete Homework: Students are expected to complete all homework given. Many times the homework I give is counted as a "take home quiz" or as part of a project grade. A failing grade of 55 will be given for any homework not completed, any homework that is handed in late will result in a deduction of points for each day late, except in cases where there is a valid excuse. Just a friendly tip, it will be easiest if homework is completed the day it is assigned. Since we only see each other once a week, information will be fresh in your mind and completion will be much easier!
Study for Tests and Quizzes: While some tests and quizzes may be take home, when tests and quizzes are administered in class they will always be announced the week before and review will be done. Students should, however, study homework sheets, as well as review material covered as they would for all other subjects.
Be Respectful: The Rule “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” certainly applies in this class. Therefore, respect your fellow classmates and your teacher.
Participate: All music is about collaboration, communication, and participation. Therefore in class your participation will show your interest and your contribution to the harmony of our class together!
Ask Questions: Musicians are curious! Always feel free to ask about anything we are doing, anything we have done, or anything that you are wondering about that pertains to our lessons together throughout the year.
