Happy October birthday to Ethan!
The children enjoyed the applesauce we made on Johnny Appleseed Day! Most of them liked it once they tried it. Mr. Locquiao, our principal, came in for snack on Monday and loved the warm applesauce! We are looking forward to October when we cook again!
Thank you to David for taking home Ducky, Lucky and Bucky this past weekend. Did you know he splashed in the puddles and played in the rain. Ducks love the rain!
Thank you to Ivy for being our Student of the Week. Ivy likes to sing and dance while she is not in school and also likes to make special memories with her mom! Please take a moment to read her information sheet.
This week we learned about the colors grey, brown, pink and orange. We looked for things around our classroom with those colors. We painted or colored with these colors as well. We review colors daily in Circle Time. We also learned about the shapes diamond and oval.
We had a dinosaur dig on Monday and the children used magnifying glass to examine pretend dinosaur eggs and bones! We all got to take our plastic containers home with all the bones, eggs and three dinosaurs! I hope the children told you all about it.
We learned how animals say hello through the Scholastic magazine. We read, watched the video that accompies it and talked about the pictures.
We are learning the Guardian Angel prayer this week. Please say this prayer at home. The children are learning their prayers very well!
We are also learning the Saint Francis mission statement. It will take us awhile to learn it.
St. Francis Miss Statement:
St. Francis Cathedral School creates a Catholic atmosphere
where children are challenged to develop respect justice and responsibity
while growning intellectually and spiritually
into leaders of the 21st centuary.
October 4 is the Feast of St. Francis. We will have a pet blessing on that day. Father Jay will visit us and bless our pictures. Please have your child bring in a picture of their pet/pets or a picture of a pet they would like to have on Monday, October 2.
A letter will go out on Monday along with the first homework sheet.
Have a nice weekend,
Mrs. McNulty
