NO SCHOOL MONDAY, OCTOBER 9....Columbus Day!
Thank you to Nolan for taking Lucky, Ducky and Bucky home this past weekend. Did you know he took them to the beach this past weekend. What a treat for them! The ducks are sure traveling all over the place!
Raffaella is our Student of the Week. Did you know she loves to play with Barbies and go to Starbucks!
This week we learned about who St. Francis is and had our pet pictures blessed by Father Jay. We learned about the Feast of St. Francis. We also learned this month is for Mary our Mother and we started to learn Lovely Lady.
Lovely Lady dressed in blue, teach me how to pray
God was just your little boy, tell me what to say
Did you lift him up sometime, gently on your knee
Did you sing to him the way Mother does to me
Did you hold his hand at night, did you ever try
Telling stories of the world and oh did he cry
Do you really think he cares if I tell him things
Little things that happen and do the angels wings make a noise
And can he hear me if I speak low
Does he understand me know tell me for you know
Lovely Lady dressed in blue teach me how to pray
God was just your little boy and you know the way
This is a beautiful poem dedicated to Our Lady.
We learned our first letter- the Ll. We learned the sound it makes, how to identify the upper and lower case Ll and how to write it. We made the letter Ll out of PlayDoh and used our dry erase boards to write it. We sang letter Ll songs and watched some letter Ll videos. We dotted the letter Ll and looked for things in our classroom that begin with the letter Ll. We read a letter L story with many words that began with Ll.. We learned we always start letters from the top. We started our first homework on Monday which was a review of the letter Ll. We made a ladybug letter Ll craft. We also started to write the letter Ll in our writing journals. We were introduced to the letter Tt on Friday.
This week was about the numbers 0 and 1. Those numbers came easy to us. We read stories, counted objects, looked around the classroom for those numbers and wrote numbers 0 and 1.
We sang a new song on Christopher Columbus this week and learned how Columbus had 3 ships.
We also learned about some Community Helpers since it is community helper month. We read a story about community helpers and watched a video on people in our neighborhood. There is still space if you would like to share your occupation with the class. Please write me a note if you would like to come in.
We learned about different colors of pumpkins and the life cycle of the pumpkin. The children were amazed at all the colors of pumpkins!
A letter about Halloween went home on Wednesday. Any questions please feel free to contact me.
God Bless and enjoy the long weekend!
